Eberhard Pencil Factory, Isaac Katan and Greenpoint Magic

Nope, no pencils here. Isaac Katan is up to it again as the historic building complex formerly known as the Eberhard Faber Pencil Factory is being demolished to make way for yet another nabe ...uh, icon? Curbed points to the Waterfront Preservation Alliance's web site for the notes about the demolition permit that went in recently.
You may or may not know of the Pencil Factory in Greenpoint. Clue: Its NOT that bar on the corner of Greenpoint Avenue and Franklin that has become ever so popular in recent days. It IS a cluster of buildings bordered by Franklin Street and Java Street, West Street and down Kent Street (not Kent Ave, that's Williamsburg). You'll know it when you see it, if you can remember to look for a once bright yellow star-in-diamond symbol at the top of the facade.
Everyone sharpen your pencils! Its time to make a neighborhood!
